Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Propels Supporting Acts to Chart Success
The phenomenal success of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, earning her approximately $14.7 million per show, has also significantly benefited her supporting acts.
Artists who joined the globally celebrated 152-date tour have seen notable increases in sales, page views, and overall demand.
Data from ticket reselling platform Viagogo reveals a 31 percent year-on-year increase in Paramore ticket sales for 2023 after supporting Swift in the United States, the UK, and Europe.
In South America, Singapore, and Australia, Sabrina Carpenter’s participation in the tour elevated her profile, propelling her new singles Espresso and Please, Please, Please to No. 1 and No. 2 on the UK singles chart, respectively.
“On Viagogo, we’ve tracked a remarkable 16,000 percent surge in ticket demand for acts like Paramore, Gracie Abrams, and Sabrina Carpenter over the past year,” stated Candy Fortescue, Viagogo’s head of supply and international ticketing. “This underscores the significant impact when superstar performers collaborate with emerging artists.”
Numerous cities on Swift’s tour schedule have seen substantial economic benefits. Santa Clara, California, restaurants reported a 170 percent increase in sales leading up to her concert, while Kansas City, Missouri, experienced a 50 percent rise in accommodation bookings.
The profile of Gracie Abrams has also soared, following her performances during the US leg of the tour and her scheduled return for additional shows in the US and Canada. Abrams has earned a Grammy nomination for “best new artist” and experienced a 1,700 percent increase in her Viagogo page views.
As Swift’s Eras tour progresses, Barclays analysts estimate the total economic impact—including ticket sales, accommodation, and travel expenses for fans—could reach about £1 billion.
